Why a refinished dresser beats a new one
A brand-new solid-wood dresser costs $1,000–$1,500 or more. The new dressers most stores sell for $200–$500 aren’t solid wood at all — they’re particleboard with a wood photo glued on, and they usually end up on the curb within a few years.
Our refinished dressers are the real thing: solid wood, dovetail drawers, built decades ago and already proven to last. You get better furniture than new, for less than new — most of ours run $125–$599. Painted pieces include matching touch-up paint on request, so they stay looking sharp.
What to look for in a used dresser
- Dovetail drawer joints — the corner joinery that holds for generations, not staples and glue.
- Solid wood drawer boxes that glide smoothly and don’t sag under a full load.
- Real wood back and side panels — not cardboard-thin backing.
- A level, sturdy stance — no wobble, no rack when you push on a corner.
- Honest weight — solid wood is heavy, and that’s a good sign.
- All drawers present and working — open every one before you buy, anywhere you shop.
Every dresser we sell has been cleaned, repaired as needed, sanded, primed, painted (or the wood finish renewed), and sealed — ready to use the day you bring it home.
